Quiet weather is anticipated across China on Saturday, while active weather will move through northeastern Asia. A low pressure system develops east of Taiwan and moves northeastward towards western Japan. Flow around this system will kick up scattered showers with high elevation snow showers. The northern edge of this system will push moisture into parts of eastern China. Thus, Shanghai will see a chance of rain showers throughout the day with highs in the mid-40s(F)/ near 6(C). Tokyo will remain east of this system, under partly cloudy skies with highs in the lower 40s(F)/ near 4(C). At the same time, onshore flow will persist from the South China Sea and into the Korean Peninsula, triggering light ran and snow showers in the east. Seoul will be overcast with highs in the upper 30s(F)/ near 3(C).

Meanwhile in China, a ridge of high pressure continues building over China and keeps moisture offshore. This will allow for sunny and dry conditions to persist. Beijing will see a few patchy clouds with highs in the lower 30s(F)/ near -1(C), while Hong Kong will be partly cloudy with highs in the mid-60s(F)/ upper teens(C).

To the south, Tropical Cyclone Iggy has developed northwest of Western Australia. This system is expected to move southeastward towards land, as it strengthens to a category 1 storm on Saturday with winds between 74 and 95 mph (64 to 82 knots). This will bring heavy rains and strong thunderstorms to far northern Westerns Australia. Meanwhile in the east, a trough of low pressure dips through eastern Australia, kicking up scattered showers and thunderstorms in New South Whales and Queensland. Sydney will be cloudy with rain showers and highs in the lower 80s(F)/ upper 20s(C).

To the west, Tropical Cyclone Funso continues spinning off the coast of Mozambique. By Saturday, this system will advance southward and out of the warm waters of the Mozambique Channel, decreasing to a category 1 storm with winds between 74 and 95 mph (64 to 82 knots). Landfall is not anticipated but it will continue bringing scattered thunderstorms to Madagascar.
